Why use traditional handmade soaps?

Updated: Jan 11, 2021

'Soap and water and common sense are the best disinfectants'. So said William Osler, and he should know as he was the 'father of modern medicine'.

As the supermarkets in the UK run bare of commercially produced soap I would urge you to try handmade soaps produced in the traditional way. You will enjoy a number of advantages:-

HELPS COMBAT COVID-19

To be fair this applies to all soap, but it doesn't hurt to reinforce the message in these troubling times. Don't become complacent with hand sanitisers as soap may actually do a better job - click here. But you can do so much better than mass produced soap.

SO MUCH KINDER TO YOUR HANDS

Handmade soap made in the traditional way leaves all the good stuff like glycerine in the bar. Glycerin is commonly extracted by the commercial companies who then use it to make expensive hand care products that you probably wouldn't need if they'd left it in the first place.

We live in a very rural part of Devon and our farmer friends have honed their skills over generations. It takes something special to change their ways. However, many of them have become regular buyers of our soap finding their valuable hands don't painfully split as much.

COULD SAVE YOU MONEY

We found a bar of commercial soap lurking at the back of a cupboard. We used it rather than waste it, but now our hands have turned dry and scaly. No wonder people need to buy creams etc with commercial soap. We don't need any such thing using our soap which makes things a lot cheaper too! Feel free to shake hands if you see us at a craft fair or show.

COULD HELP SAVE THE PLANET

ZeezBeez tries to tread as lightly as possible on the environment. We don't use plastic packaging but prefer recyclable or compostable packaging. We even save up & re-use packaging that others have used to send things to us. Even if it is plastic, we'd much rather see it continue in circulation rather than disappear to landfill or pollute the ocean.

We felt very strongly about the issue of palm oil and have successfully gained Certification that all our products are palm oil free - we are proud to be the first soap company in the UK to achieve this. To find out more click here

YOU CAN FEEL THE LOVE

Handmade soap makers are a weird lot. They actually really enjoy making it for you. They enthusiastically try out new recipes, get really excited when they work well and overjoyed when folk enjoy their products. It's a whole new world of smells and emotions that they can't wait to share with the world. I'm certain that this strange energy with smiles & laughter is transmitted through every bar to the end user.

So, now is a great time to give them a try.
